10 years ago, Impact launched the Support a Class program, asking ten sponsors to come alongside each class in our Vida Schools.
10 years later, the reasons why still sound all too familiar:
- the gap between what child sponsorship covers and the actual expenses to care comprehensively for kids in Vida Schools
- new laws in Guatemala driving up educational expenses
- the implications of the global economy
- a heartfelt desire to take better care of Vida staff who sacrifice so much for the sake of the Gospel
10 years ago, sponsors stepped up. In 2015, 104 sponsors became part of raising up a new generation of leaders by supporting a class.
These early testimonies were so encouraging:
When we learned about the Support a Class program, we were eager to join Impact Ministries in this new opportunity. This month we had the incredible opportunity of meeting our class! For us, the monetary commitment became so trivial when we hugged the precious Guatemalan children. They said with such sincerity, “thank you for sponsoring my class.” It is our joy to be able to financially support their learning, but even more so to be able to lift each child and their teacher up to the Lord by name. (Tim & Meryk, 2015)
We immediately jumped at the opportunity and became the proud sponsors of an elementary class at Vida Mocohán School. We learned that this community experiences much poverty, and that many children come from difficult family situations in their home. We witnessed first-hand the beautiful work God is doing in the school. Students are learning to seek God, and there is a feeling of love and peace. It has been such a blessing to us to be part of training these future leaders. We could not think of any better investment! (Nick & Jan, 2015)

Wouldn’t it be amazing if ALL the Vida classes could be fully sponsored by the end of 2025? What a great way to celebrate 25 years of Impact and 10 years of the Support a Class Program!
That’s a big ask, because we have over eighty classes, and each class has a cluster of ten sponsorship units. But sponsors stepped up 10 years ago, and we’re confident sponsors will step up today!
