Have you ever been hungry? Really, really hungry?
Saida has.
Not just my stomach is growling hungry.
Saida’s been so hungry that she became ill due to lack of proper nutrition.
She’s been so hungry that she cried out to God for food.
And God answered. That very day, she learned that, at school, she would be getting a nutritious meal everyday before her classes. And God’s care for her physical needs was instrumental in Saida accepting Jesus into her life.
That was many years ago, when she was little. But Saida, now in Grade 9, remembers the difference those school meals made for her health – and for her faith. She’s thankful for every school meal she’s received since.
Today is World Food Day, a day when you hear a lot of statistics about global hunger and food insecurity
The numbers in Guatemala are grim.
61 % of Indigenous children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition, the highest prevalence in Latin America.
54 % of the population of Tactic and Purulhá live in extreme poverty, with minimal resources to cover basic food needs.
Those numbers mean most of the children in our schools come from homes where they regularly don’t have enough to eat.
Children like Saida.
Will you help us provide a meal for them every day before they start their classes?
It doesn’t take much to provide meals for hungry kids in Guatemala. A monthly gift starts at just $5/month.
$5 provides a week’s worth of school meals for a child like Saida.
Those meals mean children like Saida can grow up healthy. Those meals fuel focus and learning and help children thrive. Those meals show children like Saida that God cares for them and can be trusted with their future.
This World Food Day, will you add just $5 to your monthly giving? Children like Saida will thank you!
