Vida Teacher Support Program

Selvin 3Many of the teachers in the Vida Schools are Vida graduates and complete their formal training while teaching in our schools.  Selvin is one of the teachers receiving financial assistance from the Vida Teacher Support Fund and shares his story of encouragement with you.

My name is Selvin Estuardo Max Saquil. I want to relate to you that Impact Ministries has been a great blessing for me! I began to study in the Vida Christian School when I was 5 years old. For that, I am so thankful to God.  Without His help I would not be where I am now, serving in this ministry as the 6th grade teacher in the Chamché Vida School.

When I was studying in the school, I learned to pray. Daily I asked the Lord to change my family. And over the years my entire family has changed! Both my parents and my four brothers have given their life to the Lord. Today, I give thanks to God for the incredible work and the great blessings that He has performed in my family.

Over these last years, I have served in several of the Vida Schools and I have come to realize the need that each student has; they need the love of the Lord and the love of their parents. For them to come to know God, they also need people who will tell them about God’ love. I was a child just like them and now, I am able to show them the way to God, just as I was shown by someone in this ministry.

The vision and goal I have for my life is to be growing spiritually and serving God.  To work for Him in whatever way He wants to use me.

Sometimes I chat at home and I tell my mom, “I don’t want to be a stumbling block for my students. I want to be somebody who can lead them on the good path so that later on they can continue growing even without me.”

Our students learn Bible verses.  One time one of them said, “Teacher, in this verse it says that we need to trust in the Lord…let’s pray for my family! Let’s pray for my dad!” They continue to believe and grow spiritually in their faith.

We are serving the Lord and the Lord works in us.  Of course, we can’t say, “I did this!” It’s the Lord who does it through us.

I know the Lord is going to help me and use me. I am His instrument. My desire is that he may speak through me and that it’s not just me. That is what I ask from the Lord many times. I want to serve the Lord with all of my heart and grow in Him. That is my overall longing.

I thank you because this ministry has been of great blessing, not only for me but for many families. I also thank you for the financial help that you give us because, as teachers, sometimes we don’t have enough money to study and be able to support ourselves every month. So I just thank you for the economic help that you give to us.

I am currently in my third year in the university, studying the Bachelor of Education career.  My life is at God’s service and He can use me wherever He wants.

So I thank you so much and this ministry as well because it has been a great blessing for my life and for many others.  and I know that the Lord has given you a good heart and that He is going to reward you for the help that you give.
