Those of us on the planning committee of the Fountain of Life Children’s Home have dreamed for years of reaching out to abandoned and orphaned children of Guatemala. In 2012, the committee was formed, dreams were shared, and we started to seek God together and consider what God was calling us to do.
Our deep desire is that the dear babies who will come to call Fountain of Life their home will discover the love of Jesus as they are cared for, held, fed and changed. May these little ones truly know what it is to be loved!
“Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless…” Isaiah 1:17a
We believe that the abandoned children in Guatemala are God’s children, and that they are part of the next generation of godly leaders who will rise up to impact spiritual change in their society. Currently, the need in Guatemala is great for a Christian home such as this. The situation is complicated as the doors for adoption from Guatemala are not open as they used to be. These babies don’t have much opportunity available to them, and we believe that the Fountain of Life Children’s Home will be a place of refuge, where love and hope will be offered, and lives will be transformed by the power of Jesus.
Fountain of Life Site Plan
Site plan (above) generously provided by Engineering Ministries International, who sent a team of surveyors, engineers, and architects to create comprehensive plans for the Chisac property and for the orphanage.
We are well on our way to completing the first phase of the Fountain of Life Children’s Home! The infant home is constructed, the roof and floors are in, and the furnishings will be made soon. Construction of the staff and volunteer housing is progressing well, and some of the staff housing is complete. We’re now working on furnishing the baby home – including with cribs handmade by Guatemalans in our woodworking shop!
