Can you believe it’s February already?!? Neither can we! January is always extra-busy at the Vida Schools, because it’s when the school year starts in Guatemala. There’s lots of excitement with new classes, new teachers and new things to learn. And this year, even a new Junior High!
Have you heard that we’ve opened a junior high program in Agua de Vida Chijulhá – our newest and fastest growing school? Just like at Vida Mocohán,Vida Purulhá and Vida Chijacorral, the elementary students attend in the morning, and the secondary students come in the afternoon. That allows us to double the number of students we can reach through a school! We’re so thankful that young people in Chijulhá and the surrounding area can now continue their education so much closer to home.
And we’re thankful for all our students who are back to learn more in 2023. In Guatemala, it’s not always a given that children go to school. That’s why your sponsorship, your gifts of food, and your prayers on behalf of each Vida child are so impactful! We know God can work in the lives of the children however long they’re able to attend school.
This year, the Vida Schools theme is “Living for Jesus.” The students are learning that “those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Cor 5:15). What an amazing verse to focus on for 2023 and beyond. Join us in praying that the children in our schools – and their teachers too – would learn to live for Jesus more and more each day
Thank you for being a part of growing godly leaders in Guatemala, and we pray that this year, you, too, would be drawn to live for Jesus more and more.
(If you support a class or sponsor a child, now would be a great time to send your kids a word of encouragement as they start the school year. You can log in to write them here.)
